I have grounds for concern more relative than this: for almost a fortnight, the thing for millions has been dresses, whether color combo or missing fake. So we might have missed, the play’s the thing, wherein we’ll either succeed or fail to catch the conscience of those who would be king, while grinding their heels on the backs of hallowed American souls.
Cast in corporate media fashion folly and performing perfectly superficially, while those on global watch, demand progressive change from a taste for top down politically bought red meat, Congressional Tomfoolery and Supreme ill-conceived Citizens United, dividing affordable healthcare common sense between the citizenry for and against saving money on health insurance: perchance to dream, ah there’s the way forward.
Being so socially fashion conscious, it took the death of Star Trek icon, Mr. Spock to bring reality back to media from clothes horse focus. While neither Trekkie nor Trekker, I pray, May the Force be with you, Leonard Nimoy as we follow your appreciative illustration for galactically creative and human diversity.
Let’s hope all the world is not a CPAC stage where some find gender identification, truth and intellect more challenging than being redirected by old media’s passion to hide, a pace, in social media’s characters.
With political hacks playacting, costumed in red, white and blue, we may be distracted from murder most foul on darkened Russian streets, unlike the glare of exposed character Jihadi Johnny.
So transfixed perhaps by unworthy deeds, we fail to notice Black History month’s come and gone – too quickly, after final bow of Stuart Scott and Maya Angelou – with only a passing glace to historical Selma.
Truly, are inter-racial couples still shocking or is it that Hollywood films are, like conservative political stars Boehner, Tomi Lahren and other CPAC Cruzers, simply trailing behind the 21st century reality of cable networks and slice of life Americans on Main Street, post Loving vs. Virginia?
FDR, Abraham, Martin, John and Bobby still beckon us to be, or at least, not to be the conservative blight believing, neither earth nor all that live upon it, matters.
If we paid as much attention to The Hunting Ground as we do to dress color debates, perhaps we could prioritize saving lives from sexual assault on college campuses, with intent to defile.
Whatever the IQ of those being led by their noses sniffing Koch money that primes redneck governors with greenbacks, Conservatives are focus experts, on single-minded goals.
So no matter how much the incredibly talented Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lopez cheer the far less talented, the gallant, overdue, but amazing Oscar appeal for economic gender equality, wins no awards from male or female conservatives, who refuse to support the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment, passed by Congress in 1972.
For women to be equal under the law of the land, ratification of ERA by three more states is needed, and still the majority of minority women will not have won economic equality.
So much information, so little knowledge. So much flying by us at our fingertips and yet in the midst of feet of snow, we’re missing that global sea levels are on the rise, and polar bears in decline.
While Oscar selfies are fun, Neil Patrick Harris predictions were not, and House of Cards return, inconsistent at best, but who isn’t when embracing predictable petty and frivolous distractions.
Everyone needs social time out for family fun and friends, but America’s survival depends on its citizens focusing on the original intent of both, Declaration of Independence and Lincoln’s preserved emancipated United States of America.
